And the Winner is....
Thank you all for your participation in our first naming contest! We had some great suggestions and a lot of fun. We will be doing more of this type of contest in the future for sure! In naming our new ewe it came down to three names, Oona, Valka, and Birna. Each of these names were associated with great meanings and had very appropriate connections to what we are doing here at Bákurholt Bær. The people who suggested each of these names will receive one of our wooden Lucets as well as some wool fiber to start braiding with. And now the moment you've been waiting for.... The winning name and the name of the new ewe is Oona! The name Oona is derived from the Gaelic name 'Úna' which means 'lamb'. It carries connotations of innocence, gentleness, and purity and is often associated with qualities such as kindness, compassion, and a nurturing nature. We think this fits this little girl perfectly. @Coryl Abrams was the member who suggested the name and so she is the winner of the hand-stitched wool hat as being able to say that she named this adorable girl! Congratulations Coryl and thank you for helping us name our ewe. So now we have Astrid and Oona at the farm, and remember, Astrid is pregnant so we are expecting to have a "Meet the Babies" event this spring. Hope to see some of you there so you can meet both of these ewes as well as the babies.
